Why is there such a huge difference between the 3D charts available in Javascript versus WPF?

If the charts are meant to use the same engines behind the scenes, why are the available charts not equivalent?

Hi Mark,

Which 3D charts are you referring to? The underlying engine in both SciChart WPF and SciChart.js are the same, so if there is any feature in SciChart.js missing that you would like to see ported from WPF, just let us know.

Please provide a list of feature / chart type requests and we can schedule these in. They should be quick to do, we just need users to keep us informed of their requirements.

Best regards,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Thanks a lot for the quick response.

Specifically, it was the lack of a NonUniformGridDataSeries3D (which I raised in another forum issue) for the Surface chart. Currently the Javascript version only supports UniformGridDataSeries3D which makes dealing with more irregular data very challenging.

I’d noticed in general that there was a fair bit of difference between the charts types available. Impulse, Waterfall and Free Surface chart types all seem to be available for WPF but not Javascript. It would be great to make them available and, where possible, keep features in lockstep as the library continues to evolve.

Thanks

Fantastic Mark thank you, i’ve captured this also in a task https://abtsoftware.myjetbrains.com/youtrack/issue/SCJS-2454 Remember we are user driven, if you have feedback, requests, just post them here (in the forum), or on tech support, our team will log a task and get to work! It’s pretty easy these days to port features from one platform of SciChart to another, due to the large amount of shared code in the underlying 2D/3D graphics engine.
