Hi,

I’m attempting to plot on a mountain graph with a DateTimeAxis for the x-axis and I noticed that the plotted time is inaccurate.

The data that am attempting to put in has the following NSDate value: 2017-01-06T10:09:25+0000
Correct me if am wrong, but I believe the time on the axis that ought to be displayed should follow the device’s system timezone? In my case, it is +0800, setting the time to be about 6:09:25 pm

However, the plotted time ends up showing the point to be plotted at 2:09:25 instead.

I’ve tested with a date formatter and it displays the time as it should (6:09:25 pm).
I don’t think I configured anything regarding the axis’s time format, and the insertion of data was done as below:

[self.mountainSeries appendX:SCIGeneric(m.timestamp) Y:SCIGeneric(m.mid)];
[self.chartSurface invalidateElement];

Also, to add on, if I were to extract the XMax value from the axis (in this case, is the timestamp as above), it returns me as such: 2017-01-06 18:09:25 +0000

Thank you.

I’m having difficulty determining the easiest method of placing the legend outside of the chart surface in iOS. I’ve done a ton of trial and error and have run into several issues. I understand that the SCIChartLegend class is just a subclass of UICollectionView. The problem seems to be these two things:

— When adding a legend via SCILegendModifier it only allows for custom placement if using SCILegendModifier’s initializer which also requires you assign an SCILegendDataSource. Or at least that’s required for the initializer with the useAutoPlacement parameter that I can then set to false (not even sure if that would work once I got that far).

— Placing the SCIChartLegend view manually without first initializing an SCILegendModifier with it results in none of the legend cells being loaded. I would imagine this is due to a missing SCILegendDataSource.

It seems like these could be overcome if I could somehow construct a default instance of SCILegendDataSource. Unfortunately, SCILegendDataSource only exposes one initializer which requires I pass it a xib name for the legend items. But I do not want to customize the legend items- I simply want to be able to construct the default SCILegendDataSource because that is apparently required to get the SCIChartLegend working.

Am I making this more complicated than it needs to be? What’s the simplest path to placing the chart legend where I want in iOS?

Hello, I’m trailing your library right now. I would like to be able to move the graph around as well as a cursor on the graph. So I enabled both SCIZoomPanModifier and SCICursorModifier. But since both use one finger panning, the result wasn’t that good. Do you have any guidance for solving the conflict and letting them working together? I’m thinking to do it in the following way: if the touch location is within certain pixel range of the cursor, panning action will move the cursor, otherwise it moves the graph. Is it possible? Thanks

Hi, guys

Please take look at:
http://prntscr.com/gmmib5

So my question is

Is there a way to highlight a line of a gridlines to which the label belong? It can be a color changed or something similar that can be easily perceived by the user.

Best regards,

I have a simple line renderable series in iOS with an SCIDateTimeAxis for X and an SCINumericAxis for Y. At this point all I’m trying to do is format the Y-axis labels and cursor labels as currency. According to the documentation, this should be as simple as:

yAxis.textFormatting = "$%f"

But it does not appear to properly use this formatting. The Y-axis is showing values like “$%f1400” when formatting a value for 14.

So, I instead attempted creating my own label provider by overriding SCINumericLabelProvider:

class CurrencyLabelProvider: SCINumericLabelProvider {

static let formatter: NumberFormatter = {
    let formatter = NumberFormatter()
    formatter.numberStyle = .currency
    return formatter
}()

override func formatLabel(_ dataValue: SCIGenericType) -> NSAttributedString! {
    let value = dataValue.doubleData
    let string = CurrencyLabelProvider.formatter.string(from: NSNumber(value: value))!
    return NSAttributedString(string: string)
}
}

Then assigning:

yAxis.labelProvider = CurrencyLabelProvider()

This works to properly format the axis labels. So, I also override SCINumericLabelProvider to provide the cursor labels:

 override func formatCursorLabel(_ dataValue: SCIGenericType) -> NSAttributedString! {
    let value = dataValue.doubleData
    let string = CurrencyLabelFormatter.formatter.string(from: NSNumber(value: value))!
    return NSAttributedString(string: string)
}

This then properly formats the cursor label for the Y-axis- but it also formats the X-axis cursor:
Formatted Cursor

At this point, the X-axis is already assigned an SCIDateTimeLabelProvider- the X-axis is not assigned CurrencyLabelProvider. But it seems to be overridden by the Y-axis label provider or simply unused. The X-axis labels are formatted as dates properly, but X-axis cursor values are just numbers when not being interfered with by the Y-axis label provider.

Am I misunderstanding something or are these all bugs in the iOS SDK? We’re currently evaluating whether this package will meet our needs and it certainly appears to be riddled with issues.

So I want to draw multiple charts so is there any way I can have stacked yAxes like yAxis 2 should be drawn below yAxis1. I have gone through your example and there I got that we can add multiple surface but its becoming difficult for us to show a crosshair on all surfaces since we have a custom cross hair. Can you guide on same. Thanks in advance

Hi

I am developing a Xamarin iOS application and I’m using a SCIPieChartSurface. I can create the chart and set its values, but is is not possible to auto-update the donut with new data.
I am trying to update the value by doing:

myDonut.MyPieSegment.Value = newValue;

But nothing happends…

I heard it was a bug in the API for Android a month ago, is this similar? Or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance!

I’m trying to clear a SCIUniformHeatmapDataSeries after connecting it to a SCIChartSurface, but it is very slow and energy consuming. However, if I clear the data series before it is connected to the sci chart, then the clearing is pretty fast. How can I clear the data series after it is connected to the chart surface quickly? Do I have to make a new data series, clear it, and connect to the scichartsurface every time I want to clear a data series? This is for iOS by the way.
EDIT: code

for i in 0..<data.MATRIX_COLUMNS {
        for j in 0..<data.MATRIX_ROWS  {
            data.ecm2DMatrix[i][j] = Double.nan
            SCIUpdateSuspender.usingWith(charts.ecmSurface) {
                self.data.ecmDataSeries.update(z:self.data.ecm2DMatrix[i][j], atX: i, y: j)
            }

I am not able to figure out solution for handling NAN values in iOS which is available in Android in case of FastLineRenderableSeries.

Thanks

We have lots of Point Markers in our series that overlap, so we’re trying to find a way to Cluster them in Android and iOS. I can see that there is an SCIPointMarkerClusterizer. Can you give us some pointers on how we can achieve point marker clustering and/or spacing?

I need someone to develop this chart for me and I will provide a JSON, for the data.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t29Zl-7QyMw&t=215s
Please go to time line 3:22

I have been struggling in the documentation and if someone can create this chart for me, I will be more than happy to pay you.

The chart would have to be created for Swift 4 please.

Hi,

We found that the part of our project that uses scichart does not work correctly on iOS12, and then we tried to open a browser on iOS12 to the scichart javascript demo webpage, and found that it did not work.

What is the minimum iOS version supported by javscript scichart?

Hi guys,

Is it possible to capture the tap event when we tap on a point marker or a data point? I can see there’s a DataPointSelectionModifier for WPF, but there’s nothing for iOS. Our goal is to show a popup (tooltip) on the point marker when the user taps on it.

Thanks,

On device, there is an unwanted border line on the SCIChartSurface. Please refer to the screenshot.

I tried removing this by setting the border width and setting it’s colour as white as below
self.surface.view.layer.borderColor = [[UIColor whiteColor]CGColor];
self.surface.view.layer.borderWidth = 2.0f;
However, this does not set the border of the SCIChartSurface.

How do I remove this unwanted border line?

I want to hide the axis and the place occupied by the axis on xammarin.iOS, i’am using below code to do the same, the problem here is it does hide the axis but it is not removing the place occupied by axis,

Axis.IsVisible = false;

is it the right way to hide the axis and remove the place occupied by it, or am I missing something here.

Trying to install SciChart.iOS NuGet package for Xamarin.iOS project results the following error:

Package SciChart.iOS 2.0.1.527 is not compatible with xamarinios10 (Xamarin.iOS,Version=v1.0). Package SciChart.iOS 2.0.1.527 supports: xamarinios (xamarin-ios,Version=v0.0)

Wondering what the heck is “xamarin-ios,Version=v0.0”? It must be xamarinios10. We’re considering to buy SciChart but right now our build server is stuck on this error. As a workaround, we raname xamarin-ios to xamarinios10 in the lib directory but this not an option for a cloud build server.

When calling SCIThemeManager.ApplyTheme(Surface, SCIThemeManager.SCIChart_Bright_SparkStyleKey); within a the code-behind running on the iPhoneSimulator running iOS 13.2, the iOS system throws an Objective-C exception with the following details:

Foundation.MonoTouchException: 'Objective-C exception thrown. Name: NSInternalInconsistencyException Reason: applyThemeProvider: must be implemented in subclass

Although the exact same pattern works without issue on the corresponding Xamarin.Android project and the examples that call this line seem to be OK too, it is not clear from any documentation what this issue could be. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi, guys

I have some data series like:

[[SCIXyDataSeries alloc] initWithXType:SCIDataType_DateTime
                                 YType:SCIDataType_Double
                             SeriesType:SCITypeOfDataSeries_XCategory];

Also my Y axis is kind of class SCINumericAxis

So my question is

if i’m trying add value to the series

[volumeSerie appendX:SCIGeneric(bar.time) Y:SCIGeneric([bar.volume doubleValue])];

and my bar.volume is bigger than 2 147 483 648 (float limit as i’m know). It’s leads to a axis range crash. Like on the attached image.

So what should i use to handle huge values?
Like a billions and more

We’d like to customize the look of our legends. We have 4 legends displaying different data, but right now the only thing we can change is the Theme. Is there any way to customize the legend items, like add some icons, change the point marker shape and size, change the check box icon etc…

P.S.: I’m not a trial user. We have an iOS, Android and WPF licenses purchased.

Project info:
Xamarin.iOS

Hi, guys

My axis is SCICategoryDateTimeAxis type. And using SCIZoomPanModifier (SCIClipMode_ClipAtExtents) to scroll chart

I’m using setVisibleRangeLimit: method to clip the axis during ZoomExtents

Until v. 2.0.0.1511 it’s work like a charm. But now something had have broken. And it’s doesn’t allow me to scroll chart at right way. It show me all of the data range on chart or only left side.

So can you fix it?

Hi all,

Why the API’s for iOS, Android and WPF are not identically?
I have seen many samples on the forum, but to adapt it to a different platform is very hard.
A lot of classes are different for each platform.

  • Is there any “comparison” for the different platforms?
  • Is this planned to unify the API’s?

Regards
Urs

After upgraded SciChart to SciChart_iOS_SDK_3.0.0.5074, using rollover modifier on a SciChart surface which was embedded into a scroll view will crash the app. It crashed when user scroll horizontally on a SciChart surface inside a horizontal scrollable scrollview. It is the same with the vertically scrollable scrollview.

Was created react-native-charts-sci wrapper for Scichart with the structure – [Screenshot _1]. And now need to publish this package to npm private repo, but Scichart.framework folder is vast (~100 MB) and its connect in current podspec file – [Screenshot_2] like a local directory:

spec.public_header_files = “ios/SciChart.frameworks/Headers/*”
spec.vendored_frameworks = “ios/SciChart.framework”

Need to connect Scichart.framework in wrapper library like subspec that it could be taken during the installation process from vendor’s podspec repo: https://github.com/ABTSoftware/PodSpecs/tree/master/SciChart. The goal is to decrease of wrapper library folder size that would be possible to publish it to npm repo.

After adding Scichart.framework like subspec – [Screenshot_4] to podspec, get the errors after pod install – [Screenshot_3]:
– ERROR | [iOS] attributes: Can’t set version attribute for subspecs (in react-native-charts-sci/SciChart).
– ERROR | [iOS] attributes: Can’t set authors attribute for subspecs (in react-native-charts-sci/SciChart).
– ERROR | [iOS] attributes: Can’t set license attribute for subspecs (in react-native-charts-sci/SciChart).
– ERROR | [iOS] attributes: Can’t set homepage attribute for subspecs (in react-native-charts-sci/SciChart).
– ERROR | [iOS] attributes: Can’t set source attribute for subspecs (in react-native-charts-sci/SciChart).
– ERROR | [iOS] attributes: Can’t set summary attribute for subspecs (in react-native-charts-sci/SciChart).
– ERROR | [iOS] attributes: Can’t set documentation_url attribute for subspecs (in react-native-charts-sci/SciChart).

Can you tell me please is it possible to get Scichart.framework from vendor’s podspec repo: https://github.com/ABTSoftware/PodSpecs/tree/master/SciChart and connect it like a subspec in podspec file? Need to create LICENSE.txt with the licence and write the pass of it in podspec file? Can you provide some examples with the correct way to do it? Why get this errors? What’s wrong with the current framework connection?

Hello Team,

In Pie Chart with DonutSeries, the segment spacing seems to have no effect on graph.

donutSeries.segmentSpacing = 10

Thanks

Hi,

I’ve been looking through ways to have to y-Axis scale for really small changes/values.

For example, I’m attempting to plot 10 values between 0.99300 to 0.99400, and the changes between points can vary between 0.001 to 0.0001 or so (basically, really small changes)

However, my y-Axis seems to always start at 0 and the y-Axis major ticks are always at most a 0.1 difference, making the graph look flat.

I’d like to achieve the following:
– Scale to the smallest value i can scale to.
– Have my y-Axis to not necessarily start at 0.

I’ve tried the following:

Setting up y-Axis:

    self.yAxis = [SCINumericAxis new];
    [self.yAxis setStyle:axisStyle];
    self.yAxis.axisId = @"yAxis";
    [self.yAxis setGrowBy:[[SCIDoubleRange alloc]initWithMin:SCIGeneric(0) Max:SCIGeneric(0.1)]];
    [self.yAxis setAutoRange:SCIAutoRange_Always];
    [self.chartSurface attachAxis:self.yAxis IsXAxis:NO];

Regards.

Hi, guys

I’m interesting in alignment for line at SCIAxisMarkerAnnotation. For example for top, middle and bottom position. Like at alignment_to_top.png. So is there some possibility for this?

UDP: Is there possibility to hide annotation from chart view?
Something like setHidden: for UIView.

Best regards,
Sushynski Andrei

I’m try to generate a UIImage from a SCIChartSurface into a graphic context using the code below from a view that is not displayed on the screen. The image created is pure black, which indicates it did not draw. If I display the graph in a view on the devices screen, the graph draws correctly.

UIGraphicsBeginImageContextWithOptions(self.chart.bounds.size, NO, 0.0);
[self.chart drawViewHierarchyInRect:self.chart.bounds afterScreenUpdates:YES];
UIImage *chartImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext();
UIGraphicsEndImageContext();

Are there any special steps that are needed to draw into a graphic context?

I’m trying to create a spectrum viewer with your library. One important feature is a cursor supporting both automatic mode and manual mode. In automatic mode, it stays at the maximum value. In manual mode, it moves with finger panning. It’s close to the SCICursorModifier with the cross lines, but it should always stay on the plot even without touch. Also it should reside on real data points instead of anywhere in between like the SCIRolloverModifier instead of the SCICursorModifier.

Could you give me some advices about how to achieve it? Thanks.

EDIT: after reading more of your documents, I believe HorizontalLineAnnotation and VerticalLineAnnotation are the way to go. I have already added them as the automatic mode cursor. For the manual mode, I still need your help to achieve either:
1) a callback function for the VerticalLineAnnotation drag event, so that I could move both lines to the corresponding data point
or
2) a custom ZoomPanModifier to allow me to distinguish one point or two points touch: one point panning to move the whole plot and two points panning to determine the new cursor location and redraw the two annotations there

EDIT2: I was able to create a custom VerticalLineAnnotation class to handle the panning event. There is one more question left. Right now in order to update the verticallineannotation and horizontallineannotation on the graph, I remove them from sciChartSurface.annotations, change x/y locations and add them back. Is there a redraw or refresh or update function to call directly?

Thanks

I am using sci charts to show live graphs of some devices. While displaying a graph on IPhone X or iPhone 6s it sometimes lags and lines started overlapping. It’s working fine on devices iPhone XSMax, iPhone 11. I have attached a 3 screenshots. Once when graph starts lagging, 2nd when graph is in middle, 3 when graph completes. please have a look. It starts lagging and overlapping lines when a new graph starts and when it ends it shows a complete graph shown and then again same issue repeats. It also started working correctly after some time. I need information about this issue. How to fix it and why it’s happening like this…

The wick for the up candlestick go through the body while the down candlestick do not. How can I make the wick inside the body part disappear? I didn’t change any settings of stroke and fill style. Thanks.

let candlestickSeries = SCIFastCandlestickRenderableSeries()
candlestickSeries.dataSeries = dataSeries
candlestickSeries.yAxisId = "right"

Can SciChart be used in UITableviewCell? Is it possible to use Software rendering on iOS?

The OpenGL/Metal charts are great, but I suspect Software rendering would be a better for displaying data in UITableViewCells. There are many mobile apps out there that use charts in tableviews and I’d love to be able to use SciChart here too.

Currently we have two graph surfaces with two Y axes on each side and we need all of the Y axes to have fixed width size. Until now we were achieving that like this:
topGraphSurface.LeftAxisAreaForcedSize = 45;
topGraphSurface.RightAxisAreaForcedSize = 45;
bottomGraphSurface.LeftAxisAreaForcedSize = 45;
bottomGraphSurface.RightAxisAreaForcedSize = 45;

but since updating to the new SciChart v3 we get the error “SciChartSurface does not contain a definition for (Left)AxisAreaForcedSize”. I couldn’t find any information about this in the Migration guide, so is there a way to achieve this in the new version?

I have a simple chart using a an SCIDateTimeAxis to display dates along the x-axis. In some situations, the labels displayed along this x-axis are way too close together. Please see attached screenshot. I was wondering whether there is a property somewhere I can configure to increase the required “culling” space between labels? Or, failing that, what would I need to implement myself to somehow drop some of the displayed labels in order to make them more readable?

Hello.

I have previously asked a question regarding Android and Xamarin (https://www.scichart.com/questions/android/legend-outside-of-chart-area).

Now, I have the same question, but for iOS. Do you have any examples available for taking chart legend outside of chart area on iOS?

Thank you and have a nice day!

Regards,
Paul.

Hi, guys

My X axis is SCICategoryDateTimeAxis type.

And i have a huge amount of data to display. So i need to display it by scrolling of the chart surface.
So what is the best practice to update data series on the fly and display it at the chart surface?

Best regards,

Is the styleFor function of SCIPaletteProvider that was in Version 2.0 not implemented in Version 4.8?
Also, are there any plans to implement it?

I am upgrading from SciCharts 2.0.1 to SciCharts 4.3.
When the color was set using SCI Palatt Provider in Version 2.0, the memory used was 200M, but in Version 4.3, the memory used may consume as much as 1G.
I tried to devise it by setting the Sampleing Mode, but it is not very effective.

SCI Charts is used to display the spectrum data of audio data while playing the sound.

Hi.
I’m in process optimizing my app.
I’m using Objective-c.

I’d found some memory leaking issues and successfully fixed some of that.

A first issue was about ‘renderableSeries’ under ‘SCIChartSurfaceView’.
If you set class of UIView as ‘SCIChartSurfaceView’ in interface builder and make outlet without setting ‘strong’ or ‘weak’ in .m file,
It never get released automatically and will stay retained on memory.
For me, it caused about 90MB of memory leaking.
But I could solve this issue manually by putting -(void)clear; method of renderableSeries in viewWillDisappear method.

Another issue is about ‘SCIDateTimeDeltaCalculator’ and ‘SCINumericDeltaCalculator’.
It causes about 50MB of memory leaking.
But problem is, I couldn’t find neither where it’s been called nor how I release this manually.

I will be waiting for your answer.

Thanks.

I’ve got error message during compilation:

 ld: bitcode bundle could not be generated because '.../Frameworks/SciChart.framework/SciChart' was built without full bitcode. All frameworks and dylibs for bitcode must be generated from Xcode Archive or Install build for architecture armv7

I temporary disabled bitcode for target. Will you fix it in the next build?

Hello

is there a way to set the padding (aka reduce the gap) between bars in a SCIFastColumnRenderableSeries?

I attach a screenshot of my current situation: I would like to have zero margin between columns.

I tried searching in the knowledge base but all the answers I found seem to refer to APIs not available in the iOS SDK

.

There is not such class method in the iOS SDK called SciChartSurface.Padding

Thanks for your help

Hi there.

It’s has been asked here:
https://www.scichart.com/questions/question/custom-annotation

So, Is it possible to draw dashed line annotation at the current version 1.2.3.982?

I would like to format several lines differently while still scaling them all to the same YAxis. For example if one line needs to go out to 4 decimal places but then another does not need any decimal values at all i would like those formats to be represented in all of the tooltips with said formats.

Hello,

The problem is how to sign the X-axis (the time axis).
How can I change the date and time format on the x axis?
Is this possible when I use the SCICategoryDateTimeAxis?
We use the code from example to set the time format

I try to make a text formatting for my chart on IOS and Android, regarding your documentation:

IOS:
https://www.scichart.com/documentation/ios/current/axis-labels—textformatting-and-cursortextformatting.html
yAxis.textFormatting = “$0.0”

Android:
https://www.scichart.com/documentation/android/current/Axis%20Labels%20-%20TextFormatting%20and%20CursorTextFormatting.html
yAxis.setTextFormatting(“$0.0000”);

I checked my code and its the same like yours. On Android i have:

// yAxis filed with type IAxis
private IAxis yAxis;

// create
yAxis = sciChartBuilder
.newNumericAxis()
.withGrowBy(0.01d, 0.1d)
.withDrawLabels(true)
.withDrawMajorGridLines(true)
.withDrawMinorGridLines(false)
.withDrawMajorBands(false)
.withDrawMajorTicks(false)
.build();

// the set textFormatting:
yAxis.setTextFormatting(“$0.0000”);

On IOS i have:

var yAxis: SCINumericAxis?
self.yAxis = SCINumericAxis()
self.yAxis?.textFormatting = “$0.0”

But it is not working, can you tell me please why? What I’m doing wrong?
