Trying to install SciChart.iOS NuGet package for Xamarin.iOS project results the following error:

Package SciChart.iOS 2.0.1.527 is not compatible with xamarinios10 (Xamarin.iOS,Version=v1.0). Package SciChart.iOS 2.0.1.527 supports: xamarinios (xamarin-ios,Version=v0.0)

Wondering what the heck is “xamarin-ios,Version=v0.0”? It must be xamarinios10. We’re considering to buy SciChart but right now our build server is stuck on this error. As a workaround, we raname xamarin-ios to xamarinios10 in the lib directory but this not an option for a cloud build server.

From your documentation:

4.9 Annotations

SciChart features a rich Annotations API, that allows you to place UIKit UIElements over the chart.
SciChat provides a number of built-in annotations, but you can also create your own.

SCIBoxAnnotation, SCILineAnnotation and SCITextAnnotation are cool, but sometimes it’s not enough.

Is it possible to render UIView on the chart (at least UIImage)?
Is it possible to draw dashed line annotation?
Could you provide an example of creating custom annotation class?

I’m trying to create a spectrum viewer with your library. One important feature is a cursor supporting both automatic mode and manual mode. In automatic mode, it stays at the maximum value. In manual mode, it moves with finger panning. It’s close to the SCICursorModifier with the cross lines, but it should always stay on the plot even without touch. Also it should reside on real data points instead of anywhere in between like the SCIRolloverModifier instead of the SCICursorModifier.

Could you give me some advices about how to achieve it? Thanks.

EDIT: after reading more of your documents, I believe HorizontalLineAnnotation and VerticalLineAnnotation are the way to go. I have already added them as the automatic mode cursor. For the manual mode, I still need your help to achieve either:
1) a callback function for the VerticalLineAnnotation drag event, so that I could move both lines to the corresponding data point
or
2) a custom ZoomPanModifier to allow me to distinguish one point or two points touch: one point panning to move the whole plot and two points panning to determine the new cursor location and redraw the two annotations there

EDIT2: I was able to create a custom VerticalLineAnnotation class to handle the panning event. There is one more question left. Right now in order to update the verticallineannotation and horizontallineannotation on the graph, I remove them from sciChartSurface.annotations, change x/y locations and add them back. Is there a redraw or refresh or update function to call directly?

Thanks

We’re trying to make multiple legends on the screen, for example, 1 for the left axis and its data series, 1 for the right axis and its data series. I can see it’s possible in the WPF documentation, but in the iOS documentation it says “Coming soon!”. Do we need to wait for a future release of the Xamarin.iOS library or is it possible somehow now?

By the way, I’m not a trial user. We’ve just purchased a license today.

Thanks,

Hello, I’m having an issue when I put multiple surfaces in an iOS view. Only the one made first is shown and there is a black space in place of the other. I swapped the order of creation and now the other is visible instead. Does anyone know why this is happening or have suggestions for putting multiple surfaces in an iOS view? Thanks

Try to integrate new SciChart.xcframework 4.2.0 instead of SciChart.framework 2.0 to the project and build failed in Xcode 12.4 with the next errors:
RNSciCandlestickChart.swift:

Can you tell me please can I launch SciChart.xcframework 4.2.0 in Xcode 12.4? Any how to solve this issues?

Hi SciChart team,

there is a working example that implement a Polar Chart type for iOS?
I was unable to find anything in the documentation. Only for WPF platform.
If not, there is a plan to support this kind of chart in next release of the library?

Thanks for the help.

Hi,

We found that the part of our project that uses scichart does not work correctly on iOS12, and then we tried to open a browser on iOS12 to the scichart javascript demo webpage, and found that it did not work.

What is the minimum iOS version supported by javscript scichart?

We’d like to customize the look of our legends. We have 4 legends displaying different data, but right now the only thing we can change is the Theme. Is there any way to customize the legend items, like add some icons, change the point marker shape and size, change the check box icon etc…

P.S.: I’m not a trial user. We have an iOS, Android and WPF licenses purchased.

Project info:

Hi, I’m looking for a way to programmatically dismiss a RolloverModifier from a chart. I’ve been tasked with creating a user experience that does two things: 1. when a user stops scrubbing on the chart, the rollover modifier should persist, and 2. when the user taps outside of the chart the rollover modifier should disappear.

I’ve accomplished the first part of the problem by implementing a subclass of SCIRolloverModifier and overriding the onEvent(args:) function, but I cannot figure out how to dismiss the rollover modifier when the user taps outside the chart surface.

Is there a way to accomplish this?

When I embed my view controller in a navigation controller the top of the chart is hidden behind the navigation bar. So I went to the storyboard and found the view controller attributes section called “extend edges” and turned off the option called “under top bars”. This fixes the top of the chart. Now the bottom of the chart drops off the bottom of the screen. The x-axis is completely missing. Does SciChart support this case?

I’m developing chart with sci chart. And I current make candle stick chart.

I want to get correct center coordinate from user’s touch location.

so, I tried this way.

  1. get touch location
  2. get axis data from touch location like this
  3. get coordinate from data

let location = gestureRecognizer.location(in: self) // type is CGPoint
let selectedDate = xAxis.getDataValue(Float(location.x)) // xAxis's type is ISCIAxis
let selectedPoint = xAxis.getCoordinate(selectedData)

If I do that, no matter how far to the right you touch from the center line of the candlestick, you will get the position of the left candlestick.

If the candlestick center line is not crossed, the left data is unconditionally obtained.

I want to get the data closest to the touch, how do I do that?

I’m try to generate a UIImage from a SCIChartSurface into a graphic context using the code below from a view that is not displayed on the screen. The image created is pure black, which indicates it did not draw. If I display the graph in a view on the devices screen, the graph draws correctly.

UIGraphicsBeginImageContextWithOptions(self.chart.bounds.size, NO, 0.0);
[self.chart drawViewHierarchyInRect:self.chart.bounds afterScreenUpdates:YES];
UIImage *chartImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext();
UIGraphicsEndImageContext();

Are there any special steps that are needed to draw into a graphic context?

Hi,

I’d like to update the iOS version to the latest stable one (4.1.0), but after following the steps here: https://www.scichart.com/documentation/ios/current/integrating-scichart-libraries.html
Xcode keeps complaining:

framework not found SciChart.xcframework
clang: error: linker command failed with exit code 1

If I downgrade back to 3.1.1 everything works again. Any idea why the version 4.1.0 is not working? I’m using Pods to manage all dependencies.

Hello!

Please take a look at the attached screenshot first.

I have a chart configured to draw real-time trading data. X axis type is DateTime. Y axis type is Float. I need to draw vertical expiration time line.

I tried to draw coordinate relative line annotation as follows:

var date: NSDate = NSDate()

let lineAnnotation = SCILineAnnotation()
lineAnnotation.xAxisId = self.axisXId
lineAnnotation.yAxisId = self.axisYId
lineAnnotation.coordMode = .SCIAnnotationCoord_RelativeX
lineAnnotation.style.linePen = SCIPenSolid(color: Style.Chart.ExpirationDateLine.Color, width: Style.Chart.ExpirationDateLine.Width
lineAnnotation.xStart = SCI_constructGenericTypeWithInfo(&date, .DateTime)
lineAnnotation.xEnd = SCI_constructGenericTypeWithInfo(&date, .DateT

self.chartSurface.annotation = lineAnnotation
self.chartSurface.invalidateElement()

I tried to play with different coordMode values. Line does not appear. Could you help me with this task?

I’m having difficulty determining the easiest method of placing the legend outside of the chart surface in iOS. I’ve done a ton of trial and error and have run into several issues. I understand that the SCIChartLegend class is just a subclass of UICollectionView. The problem seems to be these two things:

— When adding a legend via SCILegendModifier it only allows for custom placement if using SCILegendModifier’s initializer which also requires you assign an SCILegendDataSource. Or at least that’s required for the initializer with the useAutoPlacement parameter that I can then set to false (not even sure if that would work once I got that far).

— Placing the SCIChartLegend view manually without first initializing an SCILegendModifier with it results in none of the legend cells being loaded. I would imagine this is due to a missing SCILegendDataSource.

It seems like these could be overcome if I could somehow construct a default instance of SCILegendDataSource. Unfortunately, SCILegendDataSource only exposes one initializer which requires I pass it a xib name for the legend items. But I do not want to customize the legend items- I simply want to be able to construct the default SCILegendDataSource because that is apparently required to get the SCIChartLegend working.

Am I making this more complicated than it needs to be? What’s the simplest path to placing the chart legend where I want in iOS?

Hello.

I am working on Xamarin Android project with C#. Since having a legend within the chart causes problems with too many axis’ (no scrolling is available thus selecting different series in a legend becomes unavailable) and having a legend outside of chart area, anywhere we desire, would be of a preference, is there a tutorial on how could I achieve such a thing? Our project needs this functionality for both Android and iOS.

Would be grateful if anyone could help out with this issue.

Thank you in advance!

Can SciChart be used in UITableviewCell? Is it possible to use Software rendering on iOS?

The OpenGL/Metal charts are great, but I suspect Software rendering would be a better for displaying data in UITableViewCells. There are many mobile apps out there that use charts in tableviews and I’d love to be able to use SciChart here too.

Hello

is there a way to set the padding (aka reduce the gap) between bars in a SCIFastColumnRenderableSeries?

I attach a screenshot of my current situation: I would like to have zero margin between columns.

I tried searching in the knowledge base but all the answers I found seem to refer to APIs not available in the iOS SDK

.

There is not such class method in the iOS SDK called SciChartSurface.Padding

Thanks for your help

Hi,

I’m attempting to plot on a mountain graph with a DateTimeAxis for the x-axis and I noticed that the plotted time is inaccurate.

The data that am attempting to put in has the following NSDate value: 2017-01-06T10:09:25+0000
Correct me if am wrong, but I believe the time on the axis that ought to be displayed should follow the device’s system timezone? In my case, it is +0800, setting the time to be about 6:09:25 pm

However, the plotted time ends up showing the point to be plotted at 2:09:25 instead.

I’ve tested with a date formatter and it displays the time as it should (6:09:25 pm).
I don’t think I configured anything regarding the axis’s time format, and the insertion of data was done as below:

[self.mountainSeries appendX:SCIGeneric(m.timestamp) Y:SCIGeneric(m.mid)];
[self.chartSurface invalidateElement];

Also, to add on, if I were to extract the XMax value from the axis (in this case, is the timestamp as above), it returns me as such: 2017-01-06 18:09:25 +0000

Thank you.

Hello!

I am building an iOS framework that sits on top of SciChart for app developers within our company. I’d like to provide my own default SCIThemeColorProvider object for charts in my framework. Easiest way to do that is to include my own theme plist in my framework’s bundle, but I cannot currently do that (as of 2.0.0.1643) because the SCIThemeColorProvider initializer assumes it’s either in the “Charting.SciChart” bundle or the main bundle.

I’d like to propose modifying SCIThemeColorProvider to add another initializer that takes a bundle ID, like this:

/**
 * Creates theme provider based on specified style
 *
 * @param themeKey The key of style which should be used as base for this theme provider
 *
 * @param bundleIdentifier The identifier of the bundle containing the theme plist identified by
 * themeKey; if nil, the main bundle is used.
 */
- (nullable instancetype)initWithThemeKey:(nonnull NSString*)themeKey bundleIdentifier:(nullable NSString*)bundleIdentifier;

The existing -initWithThemeKey: initializer would call through to this initializer with a nil bundle ID.

I have attached a patch file with this proposed change. Could this be added to an upcoming build?

Good day guys. I have download SciChart_iOS_SDK_4.2.0.5533 on Macbook M1. And try to integrate ios-arm64_armv7 verions to my project. I have added SciChart.xcframework to frameworks in Xcode 12.4. But the build is failed with a few errors:

  1. unable to load standard library for target arm-64-apple-ios9.0
  2. Failed to build module ‘SciChart’ from its module interface, it may have been damaged or it may have triggered a bug in Swift compiler when it was produced.

Can you tell me please did I use the right version of SciChart.xcframework for apple silicone? And how to solve this errors?

Hi,

I’ve been looking through ways to have to y-Axis scale for really small changes/values.

For example, I’m attempting to plot 10 values between 0.99300 to 0.99400, and the changes between points can vary between 0.001 to 0.0001 or so (basically, really small changes)

However, my y-Axis seems to always start at 0 and the y-Axis major ticks are always at most a 0.1 difference, making the graph look flat.

I’d like to achieve the following:
– Scale to the smallest value i can scale to.
– Have my y-Axis to not necessarily start at 0.

I’ve tried the following:

Setting up y-Axis:

    self.yAxis = [SCINumericAxis new];
    [self.yAxis setStyle:axisStyle];
    self.yAxis.axisId = @"yAxis";
    [self.yAxis setGrowBy:[[SCIDoubleRange alloc]initWithMin:SCIGeneric(0) Max:SCIGeneric(0.1)]];
    [self.yAxis setAutoRange:SCIAutoRange_Always];
    [self.chartSurface attachAxis:self.yAxis IsXAxis:NO];

Regards.

I cannot get SCILinearGradientBrushStyle working on a donut chart. Only radial gradients work

Here is my code sample:

let segment = SCIPieSegment()
segment.fillStyle = SCILinearGradientBrushStyle(colorCodeStart: 0xff007aff, finish: 0x4D007aff, direction: .horizontal)
segment.value = 100.0
segment.title = "Segment"
donutSeries.segments.add(segment)

The segment just renders a flat color

Is the styleFor function of SCIPaletteProvider that was in Version 2.0 not implemented in Version 4.8?
Also, are there any plans to implement it?

I am upgrading from SciCharts 2.0.1 to SciCharts 4.3.
When the color was set using SCI Palatt Provider in Version 2.0, the memory used was 200M, but in Version 4.3, the memory used may consume as much as 1G.
I tried to devise it by setting the Sampleing Mode, but it is not very effective.

SCI Charts is used to display the spectrum data of audio data while playing the sound.

I have a simple chart using a an SCIDateTimeAxis to display dates along the x-axis. In some situations, the labels displayed along this x-axis are way too close together. Please see attached screenshot. I was wondering whether there is a property somewhere I can configure to increase the required “culling” space between labels? Or, failing that, what would I need to implement myself to somehow drop some of the displayed labels in order to make them more readable?

When calling SCIThemeManager.ApplyTheme(Surface, SCIThemeManager.SCIChart_Bright_SparkStyleKey); within a the code-behind running on the iPhoneSimulator running iOS 13.2, the iOS system throws an Objective-C exception with the following details:

Although the exact same pattern works without issue on the corresponding Xamarin.Android project and the examples that call this line seem to be OK too, it is not clear from any documentation what this issue could be. Any advice would be appreciated.

So can you fix it?

I am placing annotations at the top of every bar in a stacked bar graph (and a standard bar graph on another screen) showing the total of all the stacked bars by iterating through my data, generating the sum, and placing it at the correct x,y (an incredibly manual process that seems like there should be much easier to do but I found no other way to do it – if there is a better way, I would love to hear it, but that’s a secondary issue and not my current problem).

I also have a legend where the user can select / deselect series.

When the user selects/deselects a series from the legend, I need to hide all my annotations and then recreate them because the sums of the stacked bars has changed (or if no bars are showing, remove my annotation completely). My assumption is I could reiterate through my data and check series to see if they are visible (isVisible) and recalculate the sums and recreate the annotations (another very manual process but I can probably work it out).

My primary problem is I see no way for me to intercept that this legend event occurred. The series get hidden internally and I never have a chance to do anything with the annotations. It seems like this may be doable on other platforms but I’m at a loss on iOS. There is no delegate / block event handler / etc.

Any thoughts?

I would like to change the color of chart legend, but have failed to find information on how can I do this for iOS. Any sort of tutorial would be highly appreciated.

Worst case scenario would be to create a custom theme that is based on Bright Spark theme and update legend parameters there, but for this I would need to know what exactly does Bright Spark theme looks like.

Looking forward to any recommendations.

Hi.
I’m in process optimizing my app.
I’m using Objective-c.

I’d found some memory leaking issues and successfully fixed some of that.

A first issue was about ‘renderableSeries’ under ‘SCIChartSurfaceView’.
If you set class of UIView as ‘SCIChartSurfaceView’ in interface builder and make outlet without setting ‘strong’ or ‘weak’ in .m file,
It never get released automatically and will stay retained on memory.
For me, it caused about 90MB of memory leaking.
But I could solve this issue manually by putting -(void)clear; method of renderableSeries in viewWillDisappear method.

Another issue is about ‘SCIDateTimeDeltaCalculator’ and ‘SCINumericDeltaCalculator’.
It causes about 50MB of memory leaking.
But problem is, I couldn’t find neither where it’s been called nor how I release this manually.

I will be waiting for your answer.

Thanks.
