I use SeriesSelection modifier on SciChartSurface. I need only one series to be selected at a particular time (even if I try to select with ctrl pressed). Is there any modifier setting for this?

Hi,

I think I found a bug. I tried to make example as simple as possible (see attached project).

Exception (Object must be of type of the type of series) is thrown if I select the series line (1) and then clicking few times on the area of the graph (2). It seems to be more sensitive in the area “under” the graph.

It seems that it happens only if I use SeriesSelectionModifier.
FastMountainRenderableSeries seems to be more sensitive to this error than LineRenderableSeries.

Thanks
Jan

I am considering applying server-side licensing for my javerScript application.

In the document below, there is a phrase “Our server-side licensing component is written in C++.”
(https://support.scichart.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/17256/42/)

However, there is only asp.net sample code on the provided github.
(https://github.com/ABTSoftware/SciChart.JS.Examples/tree/master/Sandbox/demo-dotnet-server-licensing)

I wonder if there is a sample code implemented in C++ for server-side licensing.

Can you provide c++ sample code?
Also, are there any examples to run on Ubuntu?

Hi All,

I’ve read the following forum entry on using a context menu with and ALT-Right click to get around problems with event interference:

https://www.scichart.com/questions/question/contextmenu-does-not-work-on-graph-when-panning-is-enabled-by-right-mouse-button

I have the same problem with zoom and implemented the solution mentioned above. Then I noticed on one of my test apps that the two would live side by side quite nicely without doing anything BUT it made selecting a scatter series trickier. i found that using ReceiveHandledEvents had an effect on the behaviour in that while this was false zoom and context were fine but selecting a series was a bit hit and miss, but while it was true the behaviour in the link was displayed i.e. context menu appearing after zoom operation.

Here’s the XAML;

        <s:SciChartSurface x:Name="ChartSurface" Grid.Row="1" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" s:ThemeManager.Theme="Chrome">

        <s:SciChartSurface.ContextMenu>
            <ContextMenu>
                <MenuItem Header="Item1" />
                <MenuItem Header="Item2" />
                <MenuItem Header="Item3" />
                <MenuItem Header="Etc.." />
            </ContextMenu>
        </s:SciChartSurface.ContextMenu>

        <s:SciChartSurface.XAxis>
            <s:DateTimeAxis AutoRange="Once"/>
        </s:SciChartSurface.XAxis>

        <s:SciChartSurface.YAxes>
            <s:NumericAxis x:Name="LinearAxis" Id="LinearAxis" AutoRange="Always" AxisAlignment="Left" AxisTitle="Linear" Style="{StaticResource LinearScaleStyle}"/>
        </s:SciChartSurface.YAxes>

        <s:SciChartSurface.ChartModifier>
            <s:ModifierGroup>
                <s:RubberBandXyZoomModifier x:Name="rubberBandZoomModifier" IsEnabled="True" IsXAxisOnly="False" IsAnimated="True" ExecuteOn="MouseRightButton" ZoomExtentsY="False" ReceiveHandledEvents="True"/>
                <s:ZoomPanModifier x:Name="zoomPanModifier" ExecuteOn="MouseLeftButton" ZoomExtentsY="False" ReceiveHandledEvents="True" IsEnabled="True" XyDirection="XDirection"/>

                <!--
                ReceiveHandledEvents * True = context menu appears on completion of a right mouse button zoom operation
                ReceiveHandledEvents * False = Zoom and Context menu are fine but selecting a series needs a slow double click type thing
                -->
                <s:SeriesSelectionModifier ReceiveHandledEvents="True">
                </s:SeriesSelectionModifier>
                <s:LegendModifier x:Name="SelectedSeriesLegend" ShowLegend="True" GetLegendDataFor="SelectedSeries" Margin="5" SourceMode="AllVisibleSeries" />
            </s:ModifierGroup>
        </s:SciChartSurface.ChartModifier>

    </s:SciChartSurface>

Can anyone explain this? Is there an accepted workaround? are there any other easy methods of selecting a series that don’t involve clicking on it (e.g. select from legend)?

Thanks in advance

/Stu

Hi,

I have 2 separate charts (SciChartSurface) and my goal is to enable mouse selection of a series on only the chart surface that contains the series. I do not share renderable series and not even data series between different chart surfaces. I am not sure why a series on the second chart surface is selected when I click on an area within the first chart surface. How can I prevent this from happening?

Could it be this is a bug in that SeriesSelectionModifier checks for hitpoints beyond the chart surface on which the mouse hit occurred? I verified and this problem only occurs when sharing Chart Modifiers via MouseManager. Attaching the MouseManager.MouseEventGroup to each individual modifier does not seem to work, it looks like it has to be attached to “ModifierGroup”. So I am still stuck with this problem.

<s:SciChartSurface.ChartModifier>
            <s:ModifierGroup s:MouseManager.MouseEventGroup="MyMouseEventGroup">

                <s:SeriesSelectionModifier ReceiveHandledEvents="True">
                    <s:SeriesSelectionModifier.SelectedSeriesStyle>
                        <Style TargetType="s:BaseRenderableSeries">
                            <Setter Property="StrokeThickness" Value="10"/>
                        </Style>
                    </s:SeriesSelectionModifier.SelectedSeriesStyle>
                </s:SeriesSelectionModifier>

                <s:RubberBandXyZoomModifier ReceiveHandledEvents="True" IsAnimated = "False" IsXAxisOnly = "True" ExecuteOn = "MouseRightButton"/>
                <s:CursorModifier ReceiveHandledEvents="True" SourceMode="AllSeries" ShowAxisLabels="True" />
                <s:ZoomPanModifier ReceiveHandledEvents="True" XyDirection="XYDirection" ClipModeX = "ClipAtExtents" ExecuteOn ="MouseLeftButton"/>
                <s:MouseWheelZoomModifier ReceiveHandledEvents="True" XyDirection = "XDirection"/>
                <s:ZoomExtentsModifier ReceiveHandledEvents="True" IsAnimated = "False" ExecuteOn = "MouseDoubleClick"/>
                <s:LegendModifier ReceiveHandledEvents="True" Name="GeneralLegend" ShowLegend="True" LegendPlacement ="Inside" GetLegendDataFor="AllSeries" Margin="10" LegendItemTemplate="{StaticResource LegendItemTemplate}"/>

            </s:ModifierGroup>
        </s:SciChartSurface.ChartModifier>

Referring to the stacked column side by side example in the android examples collection, if someone clicks on a column/series in that chart, how could i identify which the of columns has been selected (usa, china, india, etc).

I have a set of ChartModifiers on my SciChartSurface, carefully configured to work together like so:

<s:SciChartSurface.ChartModifier>
    <s:ModifierGroup>
        <s:LegendModifier x:Name="LegendModifier" />
        <s:ZoomPanModifier ExecuteOn="MouseRightButton" ClipModeX="None" />
        <s:RubberBandXyZoomModifier ExecuteOn="MouseLeftButton" />
        <s:SeriesSelectionModifier />
        <s:ZoomExtentsModifier ExecuteOn="MouseDoubleClick" />
        <s:MouseWheelZoomModifier />
    </s:ModifierGroup>
</s:SciChartSurface.ChartModifier>

I also have a pair of VerticalLineAnnotations, which I create in the C#. These are used to select points on the series that has been selected with the SeriesSelectionModifier.

The problem is that after the sliders are dragged, the mouse up event causes the selected series to be unselected. How can I prevent this from happening?

I am playing around the examples and noticed that SeriesSelectionModifier didn’t work for the Custom Overview. When selecting the chart, sometimes a random series in the bottom overview got selected instead. Also, anyone knows whether the Custom Overview would work in the multi Y axes situation?

Thanks.
