We would like to use SciChart in an existing WinForms application. The FAQ says that this is possible but is it practical to do so. What type of difficulties are likely to be encountered.

Hi Sanger,

It is possible to use SciChart WPF in a WinForms application, using the Microsoft ElementHost control.

This is a really simple control that allows you to place any WPF content inside a WinForms UserControl or Window.

Many of our customers use SciChart WPF in Windows Forms applications using the ElementHost control, including in demanding scientific and engineering applications that require high performance.

The sorts of issues you might encounter are the typical issues with ElementHost, such as mouse events and focus. For a list of caveats when working with ElementHost, please see here:

Best regards,
Andrew
