Light Conversion and SciChart Collaborate to Bring High-Performance Visualization to Ultrafast Laser Software
Summarize this article with:

Global ultrafast laser leader adopts SciChart across WPF, JavaScript and Blazor to give engineers fast, precise visualization of complex scientific data.

Light Conversion, a global leader in ultrafast laser technology and scientific instrumentation, and SciChart, a specialist in high-performance data visualization, have announced a collaboration that will establish SciChart as the standard charting platform across Light Conversion’s current and future software development initiatives.

The collaboration brings together Light Conversion’s expertise in advanced photonics and scientific instrumentation with SciChart’s specialty in high-performance, precise and highly configurable scientific visualization.

Founded in 1994 as a spin-off from Vilnius University’s Laser Research Center, Light Conversion has grown into one of the world’s leading manufacturers of ultrafast laser systems, serving research and industrial organizations worldwide.

The company develops advanced technologies including femtosecond lasers, optical parametric amplifiers, OPCPA and spectroscopy systems. Software supporting these highly specialized products must enable scientists and engineers to work confidently with technical data, making the quality, accuracy and speed of visualization an important part of the overall application experience.

In these environments, visualization must do more than display data. It needs to remain clear and accurate while maintaining the performance required for scientific and engineering applications.

SciChart is designed for scientific and engineering software where applications need to visualize data-intensive information at high performance without sacrificing interactivity, configurability or control.

Light Conversion will use SciChart WPF and SciChart.js, including its Blazor support, to create a common visualization foundation for existing desktop applications, future web-based projects and ongoing software development.

Femtosecond Precision Meets High-Performance Visualization

For applications involving femtosecond laser systems, engineers depend on software to interpret and interact with highly technical scientific data.

SciChart’s ability to combine high-performance rendering with accurate, interactive scientific visualization was central to Light Conversion’s selection.

The objective was not simply to consolidate charting libraries. Light Conversion required a technology capable of meeting the demands of specialist scientific applications while also providing a consistent foundation that could be adopted more broadly across teams and products.

For Light Conversion, the collaboration provides a common visualization platform suited to the technical demands of its instrumentation software.

For SciChart, it represents an opportunity to apply its specialist visualization technology across the software portfolio of one of the world’s leading photonics companies.

A Common Technology Foundation

As Light Conversion’s software portfolio evolved, applications and developments had grown around different charting technologies.

By establishing SciChart as a common platform, Light Conversion can reduce fragmentation, reuse development expertise and create greater consistency across desktop and web applications, while preserving the flexibility required by individual engineering teams and products.

The agreement provides licensing across WPF, JavaScript and Blazor, deployment flexibility and support for adoption across multiple software initiatives.

Matas Girdauskas, Software Engineer at Light Conversion, commented:

“Our software supports sophisticated laser and scientific instrumentation systems, where engineers need to work confidently with complex technical data. The quality, precision and responsiveness of the visualization therefore matter a great deal.

SciChart gives us the performance and flexibility required for these demanding applications, while also allowing us to establish a common charting standard across our desktop and future web-based software.”

Andrew Burnett-Thompson, CEO of SciChart, commented:

“Light Conversion operates in exactly the kind of demanding engineering environment SciChart was designed to support. When software is being developed around technologies such as femtosecond laser systems, visualization can’t become the limiting factor – it needs to keep pace with the sophistication of the underlying application.

That combination of precision, responsiveness and high performance is fundamental to the scientific and engineering applications we build SciChart for. What makes this collaboration particularly exciting is that Light Conversion is taking those capabilities beyond an individual project and establishing a common visualization foundation across its software portfolio.

We are proud to work with one of the world’s leading photonics companies and look forward to supporting the continued evolution of its software platforms.”

As part of the partnership, Light Conversion and SciChart will explore future opportunities for knowledge sharing, industry discussions and customer success initiatives.

This work reflects the growing importance of visualization as a key technology choice in advanced scientific and engineering software – particularly where fast, accurate and interactive work with complex data is fundamental to the application.
