Hello,
I’m following along with the tutorial. I installed using the pod. I am at the end of Tutorial 3 and am getting an error. Use of unresolved Identifier ‘SciGeneric’. I can see I have the wrapper file in my project. Any Ideas what I’m doing wrong?

Thanks

Hi, guys

I have some data series like:

[[SCIXyDataSeries alloc] initWithXType:SCIDataType_DateTime
                                 YType:SCIDataType_Double
                             SeriesType:SCITypeOfDataSeries_XCategory];

Also my Y axis is kind of class SCINumericAxis

So my question is

if i’m trying add value to the series

[volumeSerie appendX:SCIGeneric(bar.time) Y:SCIGeneric([bar.volume doubleValue])];

and my bar.volume is bigger than 2 147 483 648 (float limit as i’m know). It’s leads to a axis range crash. Like on the attached image.

So what should i use to handle huge values?
Like a billions and more

Best regards,
Sushynski Andrei

I have a simple line renderable series in iOS with an SCIDateTimeAxis for X and an SCINumericAxis for Y. At this point all I’m trying to do is format the Y-axis labels and cursor labels as currency. According to the documentation, this should be as simple as:

yAxis.textFormatting = "$%f"

But it does not appear to properly use this formatting. The Y-axis is showing values like “$%f1400” when formatting a value for 14.

So, I instead attempted creating my own label provider by overriding SCINumericLabelProvider:

class CurrencyLabelProvider: SCINumericLabelProvider {

static let formatter: NumberFormatter = {
    let formatter = NumberFormatter()
    formatter.numberStyle = .currency
    return formatter
}()

override func formatLabel(_ dataValue: SCIGenericType) -> NSAttributedString! {
    let value = dataValue.doubleData
    let string = CurrencyLabelProvider.formatter.string(from: NSNumber(value: value))!
    return NSAttributedString(string: string)
}
}

Then assigning:

yAxis.labelProvider = CurrencyLabelProvider()

This works to properly format the axis labels. So, I also override SCINumericLabelProvider to provide the cursor labels:

 override func formatCursorLabel(_ dataValue: SCIGenericType) -> NSAttributedString! {
    let value = dataValue.doubleData
    let string = CurrencyLabelFormatter.formatter.string(from: NSNumber(value: value))!
    return NSAttributedString(string: string)
}

This then properly formats the cursor label for the Y-axis- but it also formats the X-axis cursor:
Formatted Cursor

At this point, the X-axis is already assigned an SCIDateTimeLabelProvider- the X-axis is not assigned CurrencyLabelProvider. But it seems to be overridden by the Y-axis label provider or simply unused. The X-axis labels are formatted as dates properly, but X-axis cursor values are just numbers when not being interfered with by the Y-axis label provider.

Am I misunderstanding something or are these all bugs in the iOS SDK? We’re currently evaluating whether this package will meet our needs and it certainly appears to be riddled with issues.

Hi,

I have understood that you will start supporting macOS in the near future. Are we talking Q3, Q4 or 2018?

Any hint, even one with lots of caveats will be greatly appreciated…

Hi!
I am going through the showcase example for the spectrogram and I had a confusion on the sizeX and Y parameter of SCIUniformHeatmapDataSeries. Are these sizes as per the width and height of the surfaceChart ? I am going to plot an array of data. How do I determine the correct sizes for X and Y.
Moreover, is it necessary that the size array used for updating the dataSeries has to be (xSize*ySize)?

I wanna make chart area background color white.
And I implemented it like below.

surface.xAxes.defaultAxis()?.style.gridBandBrush.color = .white
surface.yAxes.defaultAxis()?.style.gridBandBrush.color = .white

Then, some part became white, but not whole area.
I wanna remove those black areas, so I used theme manager, and it worked.

SCIThemeManager.applyTheme(toThemeable: surface, withThemeKey: “SciChart_Bright_Spark”)
surface.xAxes.defaultAxis()?.style.gridBandBrush.color = .white
surface.yAxes.defaultAxis()?.style.gridBandBrush.color = .white

But, this is not reasonable. I use that theme, only to change background color.
Is there another way to acheive white background?

I’ve downloaded yesterday showcase example from your github: https://github.com/ABTSoftware/SciChart.iOS.Examples

After providing license key other samples work ok except Audio Analyzer (and the last sales dashboard – shows blank screen).

Problems is somewhere with SpectrogramSurfaceController ( If I commend it out wave plot and fft plot works)

Xcode shows there is some bad memory access at:
[SCIFastUniformHeatMapRenderableSeries internalDrawWithContext:WithData:]
cblas_sscal

Tested using:
iPhone 5SE
iOS 11.2.5
Xcode 9.2

Hello,
I would like to place a title for an X axis to the right of axis labels. I am easily able to achieve this on Android (see attached screenshot), but I cannot find relevant properties (axisTitlePlacement etc.) in iOS version of SciChart.

In the last section of this article in documentation you write that it is possible, however the links are dead (and frankly, the method names look suspiciously Java-ish to me).

Hi all,
I want to use CategoryDateTimeAxis in my chart but also i want to format Date.
I found in documentation CategoryDateTimeAxisLabelProvider class but examples are not working and
this part does not exist anymore.
// Get the axis controller which has the XAxis data on it as dates
let controller = dtAxis?.currentController as? SCIArrayController

My question:
How to get seconds or dates based on min and max values from visibleRange to format it properly?

Hello,

One thing I can’t figure out is why I don’t see the axis tooltips when using SCIRolloverModifier or SCICursorModifier? If I use xAxis.axisTitleMargins = NSEdgeInsets(top: 1000, left: 0, bottom: 10, right: 0) I can see tooltips on x axis but only until some point and from there moving the cursor to the right leads to some sort of overlay and tooltip disappears. See the photos.

Is this a bug or I’m doing something wrong?

Hi, I’m looking for a way to programmatically dismiss a RolloverModifier from a chart. I’ve been tasked with creating a user experience that does two things: 1. when a user stops scrubbing on the chart, the rollover modifier should persist, and 2. when the user taps outside of the chart the rollover modifier should disappear.

I’ve accomplished the first part of the problem by implementing a subclass of SCIRolloverModifier and overriding the onEvent(args:) function, but I cannot figure out how to dismiss the rollover modifier when the user taps outside the chart surface.

Is there a way to accomplish this?

Hey everyone, my team currently has Scicharts for WPF set up and functioning the way we want it too.

We are moving to Xamarin and have tested Scicharts in a Xamarin.Forms project working for Android/iOS and Windows WPF.
The next step was to install Visual Studios for Mac, and setup a new Xamarin.Forms project and pull the code from the windows version of our Xamarin.Forms project. For windows we use a custom renderer to get the scicharts to work for all platforms available on the windows version. For Mac, we are trying to get a custom renderer set up to load the swift version of the Scicharts for Mac. It’s not going so well.

Can anyone provide details on if it’s possible to get a xaramarin.forms project to load the scicharts for mac framework?

Thanks

NOTE** I picked iOS because for some reason MacOS wasn’t in the list of platforms

I am placing annotations at the top of every bar in a stacked bar graph (and a standard bar graph on another screen) showing the total of all the stacked bars by iterating through my data, generating the sum, and placing it at the correct x,y (an incredibly manual process that seems like there should be much easier to do but I found no other way to do it – if there is a better way, I would love to hear it, but that’s a secondary issue and not my current problem).

I also have a legend where the user can select / deselect series.

When the user selects/deselects a series from the legend, I need to hide all my annotations and then recreate them because the sums of the stacked bars has changed (or if no bars are showing, remove my annotation completely). My assumption is I could reiterate through my data and check series to see if they are visible (isVisible) and recalculate the sums and recreate the annotations (another very manual process but I can probably work it out).

My primary problem is I see no way for me to intercept that this legend event occurred. The series get hidden internally and I never have a chance to do anything with the annotations. It seems like this may be doable on other platforms but I’m at a loss on iOS. There is no delegate / block event handler / etc.

Any thoughts?

Hi,

I have two question on iOS Chart.

1.How can I customize the display value for tooltip generated by SCICursorModifier? I would like to set the following:

15/06/2017
O: 99.35
H: 99.35
L: 98.30
C: 98.75

The text color of OHLC value should be set according to prev. close value.

2.The function setVisibleRange is working for SCIDateTimeAxis but not SCICategoryDateTimeAxis
Here is the initialization of the axis:

id axis = [[SCICategoryDateTimeAxis alloc] init];
axis.axisId = @”X1″;
[axis setAutoRange:SCIAutoRange_Never];
[axis setVisibleRangeLimitMode:SCIRangeClipMode_MinMax];
[surface.yAxes add:axis];

Set the visible range after receiving the data

SCICategoryDateTimeAxis *xAxis = (SCICategoryDateTimeAxis *)[[surface xAxes] getAxisById:@”X1″];
[xAxis setVisibleRange:[[SCIDateRange alloc] initWithDateMin: Max:]];`

I tried to replace the axis type from SCICategoryDateTimeAxis to SCIDateTimeAxis, it works well. Any idea about this?

I’m trying to make a chart with a “toggle function”.

The “toggle function” what i wanted to make is this.

  1. enter to UIViewController which Chart is in it
  2. before singleTap on a chart, a chart has zoomPanModifier, XAxisDragModifier,, etc
  3. after make singleTap on the chart, that chart has only CursorModifier.
  4. CursorModifier’s UI stays on chart without disappearing and i can move crossed line to specific point i want (just like what CursorModifier originally does)
  5. another single tap on chart would make a chart to have all other modifiers but CursorModifer.

What I have made successfully was 1,2,3,5 . not 4.

The way i was going to solve this problem was make fake touch event on Chart view and
snatch UIGestureRecognizer Event and let ChartView think they’re being touched till I give stop signal

But I heard that there is no more way to pass fake touch to UIView.

So I’m feeling difficulty on this problem…..

is there any easy way to solve this problem?

TL;DR;

I WANT TO MAKE CURSORMODIFIER’ UI STAYS ON A CHART!

I am trying to place a legend outside a Piechart without success. When I create the legend modifier like below everything works as expected:

    let legendModifier = SCIPieChartLegendModifier()
    legendModifier.sourceSeries = renderableSeries
    legendModifier.margins = UIEdgeInsets(top: 17, left: 17, bottom: 17, right: 17)
    legendModifier.position = [.bottom, .centerHorizontal]

However when I try to place it outside like below the app crashes with:
NSInvalidArgumentException’, reason: ‘-[SCIPieSegment seriesName]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x281881500

    legend = SCIChartLegend()
    legend.backgroundColor = SCIColor(.red)
    let dataSource = SCISeriesInfoLegendDataSource(legend: legend)
    legendModifier = SCIPieChartLegendModifier(legend: legend, dataSource: dataSource, useAutoPlacement: false)
    legendModifier.sourceSeries = renderableSeries.series
    legendModifier.margins = UIEdgeInsets(top: 17, left: 17, bottom: 17, right: 17)
    legendModifier.position = [.left, .top]

Note: I am using SwiftIUI and add the legend container to the swiftui view wrapped in an UIViewRepresentable

UIViewRepresentable(container: legend.container!)

if i comment out legendModifier.sourceSeries = renderableSeries.series the crash does not appear but the legend does not show.

I’m trying to accomplish 2 things:

First is that I would like to not be able to zoom out past the data, it does no good to zoom out if there is no more data to see. It would also be nice to have a little bounce/spring back if you zoom to far, like when zooming out on an image on an iPhone.

The second is that I only want to be able to pan to the data. If zoomed all the way out, then trying to pan would do nothing. If zoomed in you should be able to scroll around, but only to the end of the data.

I believe I have the first one accomplished by setting the maximalZoomContrain to be the same as the data range, although this doesn’t allow any kind of bounce.

What need to be done to make this work, this seems like a feature that is built into the SciChart Modifiers.

Hello,
I’m looking at the iOS “Sync Multi Chart” example that is referenced here:
https://www.scichart.com/documentation/ios/current/tutorial-07—linking-multiple-charts.html

Source code is here:
https://github.com/ABTSoftware/SciChart.iOS.Examples/blob/SciChart_v4_Release/SciChart.Examples/Examples/Examples2D/CreateMultiseriesChart/SyncMultiCharts/SyncMultipleChartsView.swift

When the user does a pinch to zoom gesture the rollover is shown.
When the user does a double tap gesture the rollover is shown.
How do I stop the rollover from showing when pinching to zoom or double tapping to zoom out?

Hi,
we are using an UICollectionView to display different kinds of views in our application, including charts created with SciChart. We noted that every time a cell with a SciChart is loaded, some memory is allocated and not freed when the cell disappears, which leads to a massive memory leak and eventually crashes the application.
Is there a way to free SciChart resources on demand? Or maybe you suggest another solution to solve this issue?

Hi,

I’m using SciChart for macOS (v4.4.2.5871 installed via CocoaPods) and one thing that I tried was to implement the an axis to show full extent of data, as described in the first bullet of https://www.scichart.com/documentation/ios/current/axis-ranging—get-or-set-visiblerange.html#zooming-to-fit-all-the-data

However, what I’m getting is that after setting the visibleRange to match the dataRange, the dataRange no longer reflects the “true” range, but something else. Also “zoom to extent” no longer works

Attached is a super basic example (project) for this. To reproduce, do the following:

  1. Do a zoom (via pinch)
  2. Click the button titled “Set visibleRange to dataRange” -> this step works as expected
  3. Do a zoom
  4. Click again the button -> “zoom to extent” no longer works, dataRange is messed up

I’m try to generate a UIImage from a SCIChartSurface into a graphic context using the code below from a view that is not displayed on the screen. The image created is pure black, which indicates it did not draw. If I display the graph in a view on the devices screen, the graph draws correctly.

UIGraphicsBeginImageContextWithOptions(self.chart.bounds.size, NO, 0.0);
[self.chart drawViewHierarchyInRect:self.chart.bounds afterScreenUpdates:YES];
UIImage *chartImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext();
UIGraphicsEndImageContext();

Are there any special steps that are needed to draw into a graphic context?

Hey everyone,

SCIThemeColorProvider has styling properties for individual types of chart elements (annotations, axes, grid lines, renderable series). How can multiple colours be assigned to individual RenderableSeries in case there are more than one?

For example, a stacked column chart will surely have more that one data series and it appears that current implementation of SCIThemeColorProvider doesn’t take this into account from architectural point of view.

Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Igor

i want to implement a custom modifier to track the users touch, similar to rollover but without displaying a view

I tried to do this by implementing SCIGestureModifier and overriding all the onTouches methods, but – no matter the user behaviour – the modifier will always receive an onTouchesCancelled event after about a second and receive no more of these events after that.

What does work is implement onPanGesture to actually track all the user’s movement but i don’t see any way of how you would receive a touch up event this way (which i do need)

Is there any fundamental misunderstanding on how this should work on my side?

Hello, I’m trailing your library right now. I would like to be able to move the graph around as well as a cursor on the graph. So I enabled both SCIZoomPanModifier and SCICursorModifier. But since both use one finger panning, the result wasn’t that good. Do you have any guidance for solving the conflict and letting them working together? I’m thinking to do it in the following way: if the touch location is within certain pixel range of the cursor, panning action will move the cursor, otherwise it moves the graph. Is it possible? Thanks

Can SciChart be used in UITableviewCell? Is it possible to use Software rendering on iOS?

The OpenGL/Metal charts are great, but I suspect Software rendering would be a better for displaying data in UITableViewCells. There are many mobile apps out there that use charts in tableviews and I’d love to be able to use SciChart here too.
