Trying to install SciChart.iOS NuGet package for Xamarin.iOS project results the following error:

Package SciChart.iOS 2.0.1.527 is not compatible with xamarinios10 (Xamarin.iOS,Version=v1.0). Package SciChart.iOS 2.0.1.527 supports: xamarinios (xamarin-ios,Version=v0.0)

Wondering what the heck is “xamarin-ios,Version=v0.0”? It must be xamarinios10. We’re considering to buy SciChart but right now our build server is stuck on this error. As a workaround, we raname xamarin-ios to xamarinios10 in the lib directory but this not an option for a cloud build server.

Hi guys,

Is it possible to capture the tap event when we tap on a point marker or a data point? I can see there’s a DataPointSelectionModifier for WPF, but there’s nothing for iOS. Our goal is to show a popup (tooltip) on the point marker when the user taps on it.

Thanks,

Hi, guys

I want to show two renderableSeries on one chart view. These series have common x-axis (SCICategoryDateTimeAxis) and separate y-axes(SCINumericAxis). Only one of y-axis is visible at chart view. Also the data series of visible renderable series updated by scrolling to left or to right. So for displaying on one view i’m using:

[y1Axis setGrowBy: [[SCIDoubleRange alloc] initWithMin:SCIGeneric(0.3) Max:SCIGeneric(0.07)]];
[y2Axis setGrowBy: [[SCIDoubleRange alloc] initWithMin:SCIGeneric(0.0) Max:SCIGeneric(5)]];

So it’s look good at start (Correct_zooming.png). But after some scrolling it decrease axis extents of invisible y-axis (decrease.png).
Or even breaks down (broken.png)

For test i’m using SCIFastOhlcRenderableSeries and SCIHorizontallyStackedColumnsCollection readerable series.
Data series for SCIHorizontallyStackedColumnsCollection is initializated like:

    [volumeSerie1 updateAt:index Y:SCIGeneric(100000 / [multiplier doubleValue])];
    [volumeSerie2 updateAt:index Y:SCIGeneric(500000 / [multiplier doubleValue])];

So can you look at it?
Or what way i should implement this behavior?

Best regards,
Sushynski Andrei

Hi, guys

I’m interesting in alignment for line at SCIAxisMarkerAnnotation. For example for top, middle and bottom position. Like at alignment_to_top.png. So is there some possibility for this?

UDP: Is there possibility to hide annotation from chart view?
Something like setHidden: for UIView.

Hi!
I am going through the showcase example for the spectrogram and I had a confusion on the sizeX and Y parameter of SCIUniformHeatmapDataSeries. Are these sizes as per the width and height of the surfaceChart ? I am going to plot an array of data. How do I determine the correct sizes for X and Y.
Moreover, is it necessary that the size array used for updating the dataSeries has to be (xSize*ySize)?

Currently we have two graph surfaces with two Y axes on each side and we need all of the Y axes to have fixed width size. Until now we were achieving that like this:
topGraphSurface.LeftAxisAreaForcedSize = 45;
topGraphSurface.RightAxisAreaForcedSize = 45;
bottomGraphSurface.LeftAxisAreaForcedSize = 45;
bottomGraphSurface.RightAxisAreaForcedSize = 45;

but since updating to the new SciChart v3 we get the error “SciChartSurface does not contain a definition for (Left)AxisAreaForcedSize”. I couldn’t find any information about this in the Migration guide, so is there a way to achieve this in the new version?

Andrew required swift code so I attach the code.
Please answer my question again.

Andrew answered second question, but it didn’t work.
There is no drawAxisBands.

What’s the new (Swift) signature for V2’s updateDataContext(withContext label: SCIDefaultTickLabel!, data dataValue: SCIGenericType, style: SCITextFormattingStyle!) -> SCITickLabelProtocol!? Obviously the SciGenericType is different.

My searches aren’t pulling up anything except hits on the V2 documentation, and all of those now 404.

I’m using that call to put gesture recognizers on some tick labels. I want those gesture recognizers to be different than the one I’m putting on the entire chart. And I need to update the locations every time theX axis changes. An alternate way to achieve this would also be welcome.

Hi SciChart team,

there is a working example that implement a Polar Chart type for iOS?
I was unable to find anything in the documentation. Only for WPF platform.
If not, there is a plan to support this kind of chart in next release of the library?

Thanks for the help.

Hi, guys

Is it possible to set min and max zoom constraints for renderable serie with one element ?
Default value (default_zoom.PNG) is too big.

Can you look at this?

Hi everyone,

What would be the easiest way of shading all vertical bands for weekend days? I’ve got two ideas:

  1. Setting major band brush won’t work because there’s no way of setting only weekend bands to be major bands (as far as I know).
  2. Using box annotations.

Problem with 2nd option is that annotations are rendered over the chart (screenshot attached). Is there a way of sending them behind columns?

Thanks,
Igor

Hello,
I’ve been looking for the documentation of how to customize the look of the chart. I have a black/dark gray checker pattern that seems to be the default. I would like to:
1. Change the background to white, no checkerboard pattern
here is the documentation for chart background but it does not show me how to change it to white. https://www.scichart.com/documentation/ios/v2.x/webframe.html#The%20SciChartSurface%20Type.html
I have found through experimentation the I can call

surface.backgroundColor

But that just changes the axis background color

2. Make the text larger on the axis.
here is the documentation for the axis https://www.scichart.com/documentation/ios/v2.x/webframe.html#Adding%20an%20Axis%20to%20a%20SciChartSurface.html
I see these lines that were provided but they won’t compile because Xcode doesn’t know what defaultFontSize is and there are no other references to it and I still don’t see a way to set the size.

textFormat.fontName = SCSFontsName.defaultFontName
textFormat.fontSize = SCSFontSizes.defaultFontSize

I think it would be helpful to create a walkthrough for iOS that shows how to customize the background and axis. I’ve looked through the samples provided but the files are huge and I get lost trying to figure it out.
Thanks,
Warren

I would like to add scrollBar to SCINumericAxis for example xAxis.

I did find documentation:

But on iOS version, I can’t find numericAxis.Scrollbar is missing

If we set ClipMode.None we can pan infinitely to the uncharted space of left and right. this is fine.
But I want to do panning infinitely only to the left side. So I set ‘clipAtMax’. This is stop panning at right. But instead of panning infinity to the left, it is stretching the left part.
Any solution ?

It seems most of the modifiers bring up tooltip data with a pan, and then it goes away when the user lifts their finger. Is there any way to bring up tooltip data with a tap (and does not go away when the finger has lifted)? The main problem that we’re trying to solve is that we would like to be able to pan to look at the chart (and don’t want an axis pan), but would also like to bring up tooltip data.

It would be nice to have an access to repo through CocoaPods. You can create a private spec repo and share with developers. https://guides.cocoapods.org/making/private-cocoapods.html

Hello, I’m trailing your library right now. I would like to be able to move the graph around as well as a cursor on the graph. So I enabled both SCIZoomPanModifier and SCICursorModifier. But since both use one finger panning, the result wasn’t that good. Do you have any guidance for solving the conflict and letting them working together? I’m thinking to do it in the following way: if the touch location is within certain pixel range of the cursor, panning action will move the cursor, otherwise it moves the graph. Is it possible? Thanks

Hi,
we are using an UICollectionView to display different kinds of views in our application, including charts created with SciChart. We noted that every time a cell with a SciChart is loaded, some memory is allocated and not freed when the cell disappears, which leads to a massive memory leak and eventually crashes the application.
Is there a way to free SciChart resources on demand? Or maybe you suggest another solution to solve this issue?
Regards,
Anna

Is the styleFor function of SCIPaletteProvider that was in Version 2.0 not implemented in Version 4.8?
Also, are there any plans to implement it?

I am upgrading from SciCharts 2.0.1 to SciCharts 4.3.
When the color was set using SCI Palatt Provider in Version 2.0, the memory used was 200M, but in Version 4.3, the memory used may consume as much as 1G.
I tried to devise it by setting the Sampleing Mode, but it is not very effective.

SCI Charts is used to display the spectrum data of audio data while playing the sound.

    SCIFastMountainRenderableSeries * rSeries = [SCIFastMountainRenderableSeries new];
    rSeries.dataSeries = xySeries;
    rSeries.strokeStyle = [[SCISolidPenStyle alloc] initWithColor:[UIColor colorWithRed:0 green:0 blue:0 alpha:1] withThickness:1];

    return rSeries;
}

When i run the test, the chart is just filling with solid color
Would you please help?

Hello.
We updated scichart to 2.5.0 version and got issue:
We have SCIAxisMarkerAnnotation with market line and set markerLinePen:

let mainDashPattern: [NSNumber] = [1.1, 1.0, 1.1, 1.0]
style.markerLinePen = SCISolidPenStyle(color: mainBlack15, withThickness: 1.0, andStrokeDash: mainDashPattern)

Sometimes, after create new chart, all lines with strokeDash colored with solid black color.

I added screenshots.

Thanks,

Hello

is there a way to set the padding (aka reduce the gap) between bars in a SCIFastColumnRenderableSeries?

I attach a screenshot of my current situation: I would like to have zero margin between columns.

I tried searching in the knowledge base but all the answers I found seem to refer to APIs not available in the iOS SDK

.

There is not such class method in the iOS SDK called SciChartSurface.Padding

Thanks for your help

Hi,

I have an issue regarding to SCIAxisMarkerAnnotation that I could not find. Can I customise the look of it or should I implement my own axis marker? And can I add another pan gesture to annotation pin so the user can change annotation location on that axis?

Thanks,

Hi,

I’ve encountered an issue with the candlestick graph I’ve drawn that consists of a set of random X date time values – this causes the candlesticks have varying distances from one another.

Rendering the data from an initial set seems to be fine but as I run a NSTimer to add on more points, the body of the new candlesticks seem to be 0. (Note, the date time values are still random but have been made to be set after the last placed point)

In fact, the initial data points that I added see to be rendered ‘body-less’ if it’s within the same visible range as the newly added points. And if I pan along the newly added points, the bodies of some data points will appear at random visible ranges.

Is this a normal behaviour or should I take anything else into consideration?

Here are a couple of my configurations which I think may have affected anything:
1. My XAxis has set its visible range limit mode to ClipMode_Min
2. Candlestick series style data body width is set to be default.
3. I have a the following modifiers set up.

self.xDragModifier = [SCIXAxisDragModifier new];
self.xDragModifier.axisId = @"xAxis";
self.xDragModifier.dragMode = SCIAxisDragMode_Pan;
self.xDragModifier.clipModeX = SCIZoomPanClipMode_ClipAtMin;
[self.xDragModifier setModifierName:@"XAxis DragModifier"];

self.pinchZoomModifier = [[SCIPinchZoomModifier alloc] init];
[self.pinchZoomModifier setModifierName:@"PinchZoom Modifier"];
self.pinchZoomModifier.xyDirection = SCIXYDirection_XDirection;

self.zoomPanModifier = [SCIZoomPanModifier new];
self.zoomPanModifier.clipModeX = SCIZoomPanClipMode_ClipAtMin;
self.zoomPanModifier.xyDirection = SCIXYDirection_XDirection;
[self.zoomPanModifier setModifierName:@"ZoomPan Modifier"];

SCIModifierGroup * gm = [[SCIModifierGroup alloc] initWithChildModifiers:@[self.xDragModifier, self.pinchZoomModifier, self.zoomPanModifier]];
self.chartSurface.chartModifier = gm;

The points are drawing just fine, but the body of the candlestick is not appearing as expected.

Thanks in advance.

I am adding a SCICustomAnnotation on a particular graph bar click. But the annotation always gets added to a fixed location and is not varying according to the selection. Whereas if I am adding the annotation during the init(), it’s getting added on the correct location point.
Ex:
if let annotationValue = viewModel.categoryModel?.value, annotationValue > 0 {
let customAnnotationGreen = SCICustomAnnotation()
customAnnotationGreen.horizontalAnchorPoint = .center
let imageView = UIImageView(image: #imageLiteral(resourceName: “Triangle”))
imageView.frame = CGRect(origin: .zero, size: CGSize(width: 10, height: 10))

                    customAnnotationGreen.customView = imageView// UIImageView(image: #imageLiteral(resourceName: "Triangle"))
                    if let value = viewModel.categoryModel?.graphDataPoints.values[hitTestInfo.dataSeriesIndex].toDouble() {
                        customAnnotationGreen.set(x1: hitTestInfo.dataSeriesIndex)
                        customAnnotationGreen.set(y1: value)
                        self.columnChart.annotations.add(customAnnotationGreen)
                    }
                }

Hey everyone, my team currently has Scicharts for WPF set up and functioning the way we want it too.

We are moving to Xamarin and have tested Scicharts in a Xamarin.Forms project working for Android/iOS and Windows WPF.
The next step was to install Visual Studios for Mac, and setup a new Xamarin.Forms project and pull the code from the windows version of our Xamarin.Forms project. For windows we use a custom renderer to get the scicharts to work for all platforms available on the windows version. For Mac, we are trying to get a custom renderer set up to load the swift version of the Scicharts for Mac. It’s not going so well.

Can anyone provide details on if it’s possible to get a xaramarin.forms project to load the scicharts for mac framework?

Thanks

NOTE** I picked iOS because for some reason MacOS wasn’t in the list of platforms

I am trying SciChart iOS.

I run the demo code, and check on the line chart.
The y-axis label is on the right of the plot, and aligned center.

I tried to modify the alignment to right by adding the following code.
(Also, changing things like amplitude or rightAxisAreaForcedSize)

yAxis.style.labelStyle.alignmentHorizontal = SCILabelAlignmentHorizontal_Right;

I was hoping that the smallest digit of “0” and “100” can be aligned,
but no effect could be seen when I ran the code. (still center-aligned)

Is that a bug or is there any reason for the behavior?

FYI, when I modify the code again with “SCILabelAlignmentHorizontal_Left”, it work as expected.

Hi,

I have two question on iOS Chart.

1.How can I customize the display value for tooltip generated by SCICursorModifier? I would like to set the following:

15/06/2017
O: 99.35
H: 99.35
L: 98.30
C: 98.75

The text color of OHLC value should be set according to prev. close value.

2.The function setVisibleRange is working for SCIDateTimeAxis but not SCICategoryDateTimeAxis
Here is the initialization of the axis:

id axis = [[SCICategoryDateTimeAxis alloc] init];
axis.axisId = @”X1″;
[axis setAutoRange:SCIAutoRange_Never];
[axis setVisibleRangeLimitMode:SCIRangeClipMode_MinMax];
[surface.yAxes add:axis];

Set the visible range after receiving the data

SCICategoryDateTimeAxis *xAxis = (SCICategoryDateTimeAxis *)[[surface xAxes] getAxisById:@”X1″];
[xAxis setVisibleRange:[[SCIDateRange alloc] initWithDateMin: Max:]];`

I tried to replace the axis type from SCICategoryDateTimeAxis to SCIDateTimeAxis, it works well. Any idea about this?

I was testing my charts on a simulator and when I naved away and then back to the chart screen the Simulator’s chart was totally black screen; I could move the mouse over the points and the popouts would occur; and your license notice showed in the center of the chart. So it was almost like it thought all the drawing for the chart itself needed to be black on black.

It was always broken on the 2nd or later chart. Restarting the app fixed it. I tried removing all custom settings, and calling the invalidate; and nothing caused it to redraw correctly… Fortunately, when deploying to real devices everything worked correctly. Is this an expected side effect of testing on a simulator, or is their something that I can do to force a hard refresh of the chart…

FYI: The additional debug diagnostics don’t seem to do anything on a simulator, or at least I couldn’t find anywhere it was logged.

I want to hide the axis and the place occupied by the axis on xammarin.iOS, i’am using below code to do the same, the problem here is it does hide the axis but it is not removing the place occupied by axis,

Axis.IsVisible = false;

is it the right way to hide the axis and remove the place occupied by it, or am I missing something here.

The SciChartDemo compiles and runs just fine out of the box. If I change any of the .m files from “Objective-C” to “Objective-C++” and try to compile I have a linker error:

No matching function for call to ‘SCI_constructGenericType’
Expanded from macro ‘SCIGeneric’
Candidate function not viable: no known conversion from ‘const char [2]’ to ‘char *’ for 2nd argument

If I cast 2nd argument in the macro to (char *) I get the following error:

“SCI_constructGenericType(void*, char*)”
ld: symbol(s) not found for architecture i386
clang: error: linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see invocation)

Am I mistaken if I believe that this has to do something with C++ name mangling? More specifically: how can I use SCIGeneric(x) macro in Objective-C++ file?

Thanks.

Hi

I have a SCIFastLineRenderableSeries backed by data in SCIXyDataSeries.

I setup FIFO to 300 (this just a number I may increase, but it stores 30+ seconds of data)

x data is time stamp.

each time I have new data, I set a new visibleRange to show about 30 seconds of data on screen

xAxis.visibleRange = [[SCIDoubleRange alloc] initWithMin:SCIGeneric(secondSinceStart-31) Max:SCIGeneric(secondSinceStart)];

So this will scroll along showing latest 30 seconds of data. And that’s great.

But I want to scroll to the left to view the older data. because of the visibleRange is set I am not able to touch the axis labels and do anything)

how do I set the visibleRange or maybe not set it, so I can enable the scroll.

Here is the drag modifier I use , but I think it does not do anything either because of the visibleRange
SCIXAxisDragModifier * xAxisDragmodifier = [SCIXAxisDragModifier new];
xAxisDragmodifier.dragMode = SCIAxisDragMode_Pan;
xAxisDragmodifier.clipModeX = SCIClipMode_None;

Thanks

It is the same with the vertically scrollable scrollview.

I am using sci charts to show live graphs of some devices. While displaying a graph on IPhone X or iPhone 6s it sometimes lags and lines started overlapping. It’s working fine on devices iPhone XSMax, iPhone 11. I have attached a 3 screenshots. Once when graph starts lagging, 2nd when graph is in middle, 3 when graph completes. please have a look. It starts lagging and overlapping lines when a new graph starts and when it ends it shows a complete graph shown and then again same issue repeats. It also started working correctly after some time. I need information about this issue. How to fix it and why it’s happening like this…

After seeing some strange behavior in my application, I have a simple repro case where hiding a renderable series that’s in a vertically stacked columns collection causes the entire screen to go black. I’ll attach a full viewDidLoad() below, but here’s the basic setup:

    let rsLeftSingle = SCIStackedColumnRenderableSeries()
    rsLeftSingle.dataSeries = dataSeriesLeftSingle
    rsLeftSingle.yAxisId = yAxisLeft.axisId
    rsLeftSingle.fillBrushStyle = SCISolidBrushStyle(color: UIColor.yellow)
    rsLeftSingle.strokeStyle = SCISolidPenStyle(color: UIColor.yellow, thickness: 2.0)

    let rsLeftDouble = SCIStackedColumnRenderableSeries()
    rsLeftDouble.dataSeries = dataSeriesLeftDouble
    rsLeftDouble.yAxisId = yAxisLeft.axisId
    rsLeftDouble.fillBrushStyle = SCISolidBrushStyle(color: UIColor.blue)
    rsLeftDouble.strokeStyle = SCISolidPenStyle(color: UIColor.blue, thickness: 2.0)

    let stacks = SCIVerticallyStackedColumnsCollection()
    stacks.add(rsLeftSingle)
    stacks.add(rsLeftDouble)
    surface.renderableSeries.add(stacks)

    let legendModifier = SCILegendModifier()
    surface.chartModifiers.add(legendModifier)

That code displays a stack of yellow and blue bars, with a legend and checkboxes (both checkboxes selected). When I tap a checkbox to deselect it, the SCIChartSurface() goes blank, the legend remains on screen, and I see this message in the console:

Exception raised with reason: All stacked series in on collection should have the same amount of X Values

When I reselect that checkbox, I get my plot back.

There are no changes being made to the underlying data. Hiding/showing works correctly for horizontally stacked collection and for other renderable series types.

What’s your recommended workaround?

Hi, I’ve found that there is no example of using SciChart in SwiftUI, the swift examples are using storyboard.

I’ve tried that, using SciChart in SwiftUI, and it worked. But I have some confusions about axis update and data update.

in SwiftUI, first I create a chartview struct as NSViewRepresentable, and in func makeNSView(context: Context) -> SCIChartSurface{} to initialize the chartview as any supported SciChart view type.

second, in func updateNSView(_ nsView: SCIChartSurface, context: Context){} to update the data and axis.

When updating axis(like visiablerange), every time I need call nsView.xAxes.clear() to remove axis first and then add axis again.

When updating data, every time I need to call nsView.renderableSeries.clear() to clear current plot data first and then call nsView.renderableSeries.add() to update the data.

My confusion is that is this the right way to do that? It seems not quite efficient.

Hello,

We have an app where we need to specify a different width for each column. I have attached an image of the result we want. We are currently using “SCIFastColumnRenderableSeries” for the diagram, but all columns have a fixed width and I couldn’t find any way to modify it.

Do you have any suggestions how to accomplish this?

Thanks!

iPhone 6, OS 12.4.3., X-axis, Y-axis texts are shown in inverted text. We can see this issue if we download the AppStore version of SciChart app

Good day!
I need to determine the value of the visible graph y from the x value and the problem is that I can’t calculate the y value outside of the data I’m rendering
example data:
[
{ x:1, y: 10 },
{ x:5, y: -5 },
{ x: 9, y: 15}
]

I use SCISplineMountainRenderableSeries and I need to show the intersection of the graph at point 3.5
I need a point but I have only one coordinate value

how can i get this y value?

Hello, I tried to copy an example to run in Xcode, when I changed it to SCIChartSurface3D, it show that “Type ‘SurfaceView’ does not conform to protocol ‘UIViewRepresentable'”, it is even I want to make a 3D chart I don’t need to change the ‘SCIChartSurface’ to ‘SCIChartSurface3D’ ?

and in the SCIUpdateSuspender.usingWith(self.surface), it said ‘Value of type ‘SurfaceView’ has no member ‘surface” ? did I do anything wrong ?

Thank you
